Filming a wedding at Watermouth Cove

Watermouth Cove is a 25-acre coastal and woodland estate on the North Devon coast - family-run for three generations, with clifftop ceremony views, a woodland barn, and a privately owned cove with caves.

A private cove with caves is not a backdrop, it's a location shoot. I plan the tide times into the timeline and film the couple down at the waterline while the party warms up above.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Watermouth Cove yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • The Viewpoint ceremony over Combe Martin bay gives vows a horizon - filmed wide, then close against the wind.
  • Cave and cove portraits at low tide are unlike anything else in the county's wedding photography, let alone film.
  • The woodland barn brings the film indoors to warmth and timber when the coast has done its work.
The coastline here is spectacular from the air - flights arranged with the venue and assessed against coastal flight rules per date.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
