Filming a wedding at Huntsham Court

Huntsham Court on the edge of Exmoor is an award-winning exclusive-use estate with 42 bedrooms - a grand, gloriously informal Victorian pile that couples take over completely for extended-stay weddings.

Huntsham's charm is its lived-in grandeur - guests treat it like home within an hour of arriving, and the film should feel the same: relaxed, warm, slightly raucous by midnight.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Huntsham Court yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • Panelled halls and giant fireplaces film rich and golden - winter weddings here are especially cinematic.
  • Forty-two bedrooms of guests means breakfast scenes, corridor laughter and late-night singalongs all belong in the film.
  • Exmoor's edge gives moody, big-landscape portraits ten minutes from the front door.
The estate setting suits drone establishing work with the venue's permission and suitable weather.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
