Filming a wedding at The Kingston Estate

The Kingston Estate near Totnes is Devon's ultimate destination wedding venue - a grand Georgian manor in 40 private acres, sleeping up to 100 guests on site, with a vaulted late-night club licensed to 3am and weddings built as whole weekends.

Multi-day weddings are where long-form film comes alive. At Kingston I cover the arc - Friday arrivals, the day itself, the 2am dancefloor, the bleary brilliant brunch - and cut a film that feels like the weekend did.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at The Kingston Estate yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • The Georgian facade and formal gardens give the classic frames; the underground club gives the film a final act most venues can't offer.
  • With 100 guests sleeping on site, mornings and late nights yield the candid gold that day-only coverage never catches.
  • South Devon countryside rolls in every exterior - big greens, soft light, space to breathe between scenes.
The estate's privacy and scale suit aerial establishing shots, arranged with the venue and subject to conditions.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
