Filming a wedding at Tunnels Beaches
Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe is reached through a hand-carved tunnel in the cliff and opens onto its own private beach and Victorian tidal pool - one of the most singular wedding venues in Britain.
Walking your guests through a cliff tunnel onto a private beach is a film sequence that writes itself. Few venues anywhere hand a videographer an entrance like it.
Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Tunnels Beaches yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.
How I'd film your day here
- The tunnel walk to the beach, filmed as a reveal, is the signature sequence - darkness, then ocean.
- Thatched gazebo ceremonies over the sea film with wind, light and waves as the soundtrack.
- The tidal pool and rock formations give portrait frames straight off a film set.
Coastal cliffs and beach are breathtaking from the air where flight rules allow - assessed per date with coastal restrictions in mind.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
