Filming a wedding at Gara Rock

Gara Rock sits on a secluded clifftop across from Salcombe with out-of-this-world views of the South Devon coast - a boutique hotel where weddings unfold between headland, terrace and sea.

The coast path, the headland, the light changing over the estuary - Gara Rock's film is half landscape documentary, and the landscape never gives the same performance twice.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Gara Rock yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • Clifftop vows with the estuary beyond are the frames couples travel three hundred miles for.
  • The terrace at sunset, drinks in hand, sea turning gold - the film's natural emotional peak.
  • Coast-path portrait walks give movement and wind and life to the couple coverage.
Coastal airspace and National Trust land nearby require care - aerial options assessed per date with the hotel.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
