Filming a wedding at The Grove

The Grove is Hertfordshire's flagship luxury resort - a Georgian mansion in 300 acres near Watford with a celebrated spa, walled garden and lawns that host some of the county's most indulgent wedding weekends.

Weddings at The Grove are rarely single-day affairs, and the film shouldn't be either in spirit - I structure coverage so the day feels like the centrepiece of a weekend, not a sprint.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at The Grove yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • The walled garden's glasshouse and borders give ceremony and drinks coverage a lush, editorial look.
  • The mansion's front lawns at golden hour are the wide, luxurious frames the venue deserves.
  • Interiors are boutique-hotel rich - low light, warm tones - and I grade to match rather than fight it.
The estate suits aerial establishing shots. Flights need venue permission and clear conditions, which I confirm in advance.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
