Filming a wedding at Hanbury Manor

Hanbury Manor is a Jacobean-style mansion near Ware set in 200 acres of parkland and championship golf course - a polished, high-volume luxury venue with the panelled interiors of a much older house.

The oak-panelled library and hall give the film its texture; the parkland gives it air. I balance both, keeping coverage discreet in the interiors and expansive outside.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Hanbury Manor yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • The panelled Poles Hall gives ceremonies a warm, bookish grandeur that films beautifully in natural window light.
  • The walled garden and parkland provide varied portrait backdrops within a short walk.
  • An evening exterior, mansion lit against the trees, gives the closing frame.
The parkland setting suits aerial establishing shots. Drone use requires venue permission and safe conditions, confirmed beforehand.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
