Filming a wedding at Lanwades Hall

Lanwades Hall near Newmarket is a Tudor-style manor in quiet parkland on the Cambridgeshire-Suffolk border - exclusive use, luxurious accommodation, and gardens that give a film every kind of green.

Exclusive use means no strangers in the background and no rushing - the two things that most improve a wedding film. I use the freedom to film slowly and honestly.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Lanwades Hall yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • The hall's mellow brick and mullioned windows glow in late-afternoon light - the portrait hour here is special.
  • Formal gardens and wilder parkland sit side by side, letting the film shift moods within a hundred metres.
  • Interior staircase and landing light suits elegant, unhurried preparation coverage.
Parkland setting suits aerial shots well - flights arranged with venue permission and subject to conditions.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
