Poets House is a boutique Georgian hotel in the centre of Ely, with cathedral views, a courtyard garden and interiors styled like a design magazine - an intimate, sophisticated setting for smaller weddings.
Intimate weddings deserve intimate films. At Poets House I work close and quiet, letting the cathedral appear as a presence in the background rather than a postcard.
Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Poets House yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.
How I'd film your day here
- Ely Cathedral looms beautifully in exterior frames - a two-minute walk gives you portraits beneath it.
- The courtyard's festoon lights and greenery film warmly for drinks and evening coverage.
- Rich, moody interiors suit a filmic grade - candlelight, texture, closeness.
City-centre location means drone use is limited, but cathedral-backdrop exteriors more than compensate. I advise per booking.
