Filming a wedding at Longstowe Hall

Longstowe Hall is an Elizabethan-style hall south-west of Cambridge, known for its lakeside pavilion, formal interiors and sixty acres of gardens and parkland - a classically romantic setting with real photographic depth.

The lakeside pavilion is the frame everyone remembers, and rightly - but the film's heart is usually indoors, in the hall's panelled warmth. I give both their moment.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Longstowe Hall yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • The lakeside pavilion at golden hour, reflected in still water, is one of Cambridgeshire's great portrait locations.
  • Avenue and parkland approaches give sweeping establishing shots.
  • Panelled interiors film rich and warm for ceremonies and speeches in any season.
Lake and parkland suit aerial establishing shots, arranged with venue permission and subject to weather.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
