Filming a wedding at Fennes

Fennes near Braintree is a Georgian manor in rolling parkland - sweeping lawns, a grand frontage and an orangery-style reception space filled with natural light.

It's a venue that gives a film classic, timeless frames, and my job is to keep the people in them feeling completely themselves.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Fennes yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • The long driveway and frontage give a graceful arrival sequence.
  • The light-filled reception space means speeches and first dances film cleanly without heavy lighting.
  • Parkland trees frame golden-hour portraits with depth city venues can't offer.
The parkland setting suits aerial shots well, subject to permission and safe conditions on the day.
Not yet - treat this as a guide for planning your film there. I always scout new venues so the coverage plan matches the real spaces and light.
