Filming a wedding at The Ned

The Ned is the City's grandest party - a former Midland Bank headquarters by Lutyens, its banking hall a forest of green marble columns, now one of London's most coveted wedding addresses.

Scale and detail rarely coexist like this: wide shots of the banking hall look monumental, close shots find brass, marble and velvet in every frame.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at The Ned yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • The banking hall's verdite columns give the film a backdrop of genuine grandeur.
  • Heritage rooms upstairs offer intimate ceremony and preparation coverage.
  • City architecture outside makes for striking, editorial couple portraits.
Yes - the City's architecture is a gift to film, and access from Essex is straightforward.
Not yet - this is a planning guide for your day there.
