Filming a wedding at North Mymms Park
North Mymms Park is a Grade I Elizabethan mansion in 265 acres near Hatfield - one of the quietest-kept, highest-spend venues in the Home Counties, favoured for large marquee weddings and multi-day celebrations.
Weddings here tend to be built over days, not hours, and my long-form approach suits that: more time means more story, and the film breathes with it.
Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at North Mymms Park yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.
How I'd film your day here
- The mansion's stone porch and mullioned windows give preparation and first-look scenes a painterly quality.
- Marquee celebrations on the lawns film best at the blue hour, glowing against the darkening house.
- The walled garden offers a private, hedge-lined space for unhurried couple portraits.
The scale of the estate suits aerial work well. Permission from the venue and safe conditions are confirmed before any flight.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
