Filming a wedding at Battersea Arts Centre

Battersea Arts Centre is one of south London's great character venues - a Victorian former town hall whose Grand Hall, rebuilt after fire with its scars deliberately left visible, is unlike any room in the city.

Venues with a story give a film texture for free - and BAC wears its history on every surface.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Battersea Arts Centre yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • The Grand Hall's lattice roof and textured walls make every wide shot count.
  • Marble corridors and staircases give elegant connecting sequences between the day's chapters.
  • Evening light and festoons turn the hall warm and theatrical - I stay wide for the first dance here.
Yes - the whole of Greater London is standard coverage, no travel fees.
Not yet - this is a planning guide. I always scout a new venue before the day.
