Filming a wedding at Wadhurst Castle

Wadhurst Castle sits in 140 private acres of the High Weald on the Kent-Sussex border - a castellated country house with exclusive use, on-site accommodation and views across an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Weald does half the cinematography here: ridgelines, hedgerows, long views. I frame the castle against them and keep the coverage relaxed - this is a castle that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Wadhurst Castle yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • Castle battlements against Wealden views give establishing shots with genuine drama.
  • The cedar lawn hosts ceremonies with the house as backdrop - filmed wide, then close on faces.
  • Sunset over the High Weald from the terrace is the film's natural final scene.
140 private acres in an AONB - aerial shots here are spectacular, arranged with the castle and subject to conditions.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
