Filming a wedding at Squerryes
Squerryes at Westerham is a 300-year-old family estate with two very different venues: the William & Mary manor of Squerryes Court, and the contemporary Winery overlooking its own sparkling-wine vines on the North Downs.
Vineyard weddings are where stylish couples are heading, and film is the medium that captures why - movement through the vines, terrace light, glasses of the estate's own sparkling. Photography can't fly down a vine row; a drone can.
Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Squerryes yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.
How I'd film your day here
- Drone passes over the vines to the Winery terrace are the signature footage here - unrepeatable anywhere else in Kent.
- The Winery's glass and timber interiors film clean and bright; the Court's period rooms film rich and classic - two films in one estate.
- Toasts poured from the estate's own vintage deserve a proper slow-motion detail sequence.
Vineyard rows and the North Downs escarpment are made for aerial work. Flights arranged with the estate and subject to conditions.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
