Filming a wedding at Byre Barn

Byre Barn near Canterbury is a newly restored 18th-century barn - exclusive use, luxurious finish, and young enough as a venue that most couples discovering it feel like they've found a secret.

New venues are a privilege to film: no template exists yet, so every film helps define how the place is seen. I scout thoroughly and treat the coverage as a first edition.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Byre Barn yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • Restored timber and flint film with beautiful texture in natural light through the barn's glazing.
  • The surrounding Kent countryside gives clean, open portrait backdrops.
  • Evening coverage under the barn's warm lighting has a golden, intimate quality.
Rural position suits drone establishing shots with the venue's permission, weather allowing.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
