Filming a wedding at The Old Kent Barn
The Old Kent Barn at Swingfield is a lovingly converted barn venue in the countryside between Canterbury and the coast - oak beams, a courtyard, and a relaxed, family-run feel.
Barn venues like this are where my style is most at home: one warm space, soft natural light, and a day that flows without a rigid running order.
Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at The Old Kent Barn yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.
How I'd film your day here
- The courtyard is the social heart of the day - I cover it handheld and close during drinks.
- Beamed interiors glow under festoon and candlelight; I expose for the atmosphere, not against it.
- The surrounding countryside gives quiet, uncluttered backdrops for couple portraits.
