Filming a wedding at Port Lympne
Port Lympne is a wedding venue like no other in Kent - a historic mansion set within a wildlife reserve, with views rolling down toward Romney Marsh and the Channel beyond.
Few venues offer a film this much production value out of the box: architecture, gardens, big coastal light, and yes - the possibility of giraffes in the background of your drinks reception.
Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Port Lympne yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.
How I'd film your day here
- The terraced gardens and long views give sweeping establishing shots that feel almost Mediterranean on a good day.
- The mansion's interiors are bold and characterful - I frame for them rather than crop them out.
- The reserve setting is unique footage no other venue can offer - used sparingly, it's unforgettable.
Where the venue's rules allow, absolutely - a few well-chosen moments of the reserve give the film a sense of place nowhere else has.
Not yet - this is a planning guide. I scout every new venue in advance so the day runs on a plan, not improvisation.
