Filming a wedding at Holkham Hall

Holkham is Norfolk's great estate - a Palladian palace in a 25,000-acre coastal landscape, with the Marble Hall's 50ft dome, the purpose-built Lady Elizabeth Wing, and beach photography reserved exclusively for couples who marry here.

The Holkham beach privilege alone justifies the venue for a film: a sunset sequence on that vast sand is footage most couples can only dream about.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Holkham Hall yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • The Marble Hall gives ceremonies a domed, monumental setting unique in East Anglia.
  • The exclusive beach access makes a golden-hour dune sequence the film's signature.
  • Deer park, lake and temple offer establishing shots of genuine stately scale.
Yes - the whole county is standard coverage; for Holkham I plan the day around that beach light.
Not yet - this guide is for couples planning a wedding there. I scout every new venue before the day.
