Filming a wedding at Polhawn Fort
Polhawn Fort is a Napoleonic sea fort halfway down a cliff above Whitsand Bay - exclusively yours for up to four days, with a private cove below, a rooftop terrace above, and stone walls that have watched the Channel for two centuries.
You don't film a fort like a manor house. Polhawn's drama is vertical - cliff above, cove below, ocean beyond - and the film should climb and descend through all three.
Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Polhawn Fort yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.
How I'd film your day here
- Rooftop terrace toasts against the full sweep of Whitsand Bay are the establishing and closing shots in one location.
- The private cove below gives couple portraits with sand, surf and not another soul in frame.
- Candlelit dinners inside the fort's stone casemates film like scenes from an adventure novel.
Whitsand Bay from above the fort is one of Cornwall's great aerial views - flights arranged with the venue and coastal rules checked per date.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
