Filming a wedding at Boconnoc
Boconnoc near Lostwithiel is one of Cornwall's great private estates - a Georgian house with its own 800-year-old church, a stable yard for pre-wedding parties, and miles of woodland paths through ancient parkland.
Estates with their own church give a film rare continuity - the procession from house to church to celebration all inside one world, no travel, no gaps, just story.
Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Boconnoc yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.
How I'd film your day here
- The walk from house to the estate's own church, filmed as a procession, is pure period drama.
- Ancient woodland paths give couple portraits depth and dapple you can't find at coastal venues.
- The stable yard's pre-wedding party deserves coverage - the film can open the night before.
Private parkland at this scale suits aerial establishing shots, arranged with the estate in advance.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
