Filming a wedding at Leighton House
Leighton House in Holland Park is the former studio-home of Victorian artist Frederic Leighton - its gilded Arab Hall, mosaic friezes and peacock-blue tiles making it the most opulent small venue in London.
You film Leighton House like the artwork it is: patiently, symmetrically, in available light. Ceremonies here feel consecrated by beauty, and the film should too.
Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Leighton House yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.
How I'd film your day here
- The Arab Hall's golden dome and fountain give a ceremony frame beyond any set designer's imagination.
- Staircase and studio light suit slow, painterly portrait coverage.
- Holland Park itself, minutes away, offers green contrast for a short couple sequence.
Museum setting and Kensington airspace rule out drone work - the interiors are a film in themselves.
Not yet - consider this a planning guide. Before any new venue I visit or arrive early on the day to scout ceremony sightlines, light and sound, so the coverage is planned rather than improvised.
