Filming a wedding at Hengrave Hall

Hengrave Hall near Bury St Edmunds is one of Suffolk's grandest wedding settings - a Tudor manor with a church in its grounds, formal gardens and interiors that feel lifted from a costume drama.

Grand venues like this give a film effortless production value. My job is to keep the warmth in it - the architecture as the stage, never the story.

Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Hengrave Hall yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.

How I'd film your day here

  • The on-site church means ceremony-to-reception coverage with no convoy - the film keeps its momentum.
  • Stone, oak and leaded glass reward careful exposure - I protect the atmosphere rather than flatten it.
  • The formal gardens give elegant, symmetrical frames for portraits and group moments.
Yes - Suffolk is part of my regular coverage area from Essex, and Hengrave is an easy run up the A134.
Not yet - this is a guide for couples planning a wedding there. I scout every new venue before the day so key moments are planned around its light and layout.
