Filming a wedding at Great Fosters
Great Fosters is Surrey grandeur at its most complete - a former royal hunting lodge with Grade I gardens, a Saxon moat and interiors that make every frame feel like period drama.
Venues with this much history reward restraint on camera: let the architecture anchor a handful of wide, composed frames and keep the rest of the film close to the people.
Honest note: I haven't filmed a wedding at Great Fosters yet - this guide is written for couples planning one there. Before any new venue I scout in person or arrive early on the day, walking the ceremony and reception spaces and planning shots around the light, so nothing is left to chance.
How I'd film your day here
- The formal gardens and moat bridge give elegant, symmetrical establishing shots.
- Panelled interiors are dark and atmospheric - fast lenses keep faces warm without killing the mood.
- The long garden vistas at dusk are the film's natural closing frames.
Yes - I filmed Antonia and Martin's Spring 2026 wedding at Addington Palace, and Surrey is firmly inside my standard coverage from Essex.
Not yet - this is a guide for couples planning a wedding there. I scout every new venue before the day.
