Laura & Ange
De Vere Horsley Estate
A summer wedding that refused to slow down
Some weddings have a moment where the energy peaks. Laura and Ange's never came down. Their August day at De Vere Horsley Estate started in sunshine, moved through a ceremony full of laughter, and ended with a dance floor in The Sopwith that stayed packed until the very last song - guests fanning themselves in the heat and still refusing to sit down.
From behind the camera, days like this are a gift. Golden light through the mansion's windows during drinks on the lawn, the cloisters and lakeside giving us five quiet minutes of couple portraits away from the party, and then an evening that needed no direction at all - just fast reflexes and a wide aperture.
Their first dance was L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole, performed live - playful and completely them. The father-daughter dance to Isn't She Lovely followed, and from there the night belonged to the band: a conga line through the tables, a dance-off that Ange won emphatically, and singalongs that carried out through the doors onto the terrace.
The suppliers who made it happen
A day like this is a team effort, and this team was superb. Working alongside people at the top of their craft makes the film better - these are suppliers I'd gladly share a wedding with again.
- Venue: De Vere Horsley Estate - a Victorian lakeside mansion in 70 acres of Surrey parkland, with the intimate Sopwith Suite hosting the evening. You can also read my full Horsley Towers venue guide.
- Live band & production: Anthem Function Band - a 7-piece with vocals, sax and a dedicated sound engineer, who kept the floor full from first dance to final encore. Their own write-up of the day is worth a read.
- Photography: Emma Moore Photography - golden-hour portraits and dance-floor moments captured in equal measure, all day long.
- Videography: Steer Media - that's me. You can watch wedding films here.
